LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN

LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION THROUGH WEIGHT REDUCTION

In lightweight construction, we at BORBET rely on a wide range of innovative processes to reduce weight. We are actively involved in making our bikes lighter and more powerful. We rely on intelligent lightweight construction concepts to minimise the weight of our products without having to compromise on quality and safety. Gain an insight into how we are paving the way for lighter and more efficient vehicles through continuous innovation.

NATURE WHEEL
The process developed by BORBET combines conventional mould casting with natural mineral. This lightweight material is used as a skeleton integrated into the casting wherever the statics do not require the use of metal. This invisible innovation reduces the weight of the wheel - with constant reliability.

PERFORMANCE RIM
In this process, the rim wall thickness is reduced so that the wheel weight is reduced. Less weight means more range and therefore lower CO2 emissions while maintaining the same product quality.

PERFORMANCE CUT
With the Performance Cut, the material is removed from the entire back of the spoke. The minimum wall thicknesses required for moulding are retained and mechanically reduced to a minimum.
The process guarantees weight savings with precise moulding.

UNDERCUT
Undercut describes an automated technique in which all non-load-bearing areas of the rim base are removed by mechanical processing. The result: lower wheel weight with the same strength.

FLOWFORMING
The secrets of automated FlowForming are rotation and pressure: the compaction of the rim base by pressure rollers leads to greater stability and a more delicate rim base thickness. The wheel becomes lighter and more resistant and impresses with significantly better driving dynamics.
